<p>When the Brice brothers, Ernie, Eric and Albert, immigrated to Perth in 1969 and set up shop as registered builders, they swiftly noticed a gap in the market. When it came to window dressings, curtains were all the rage (it was the 60s, after all), but blinds? They were nowhere to be seen!</p>

<h2>Introducing Kresta Blinds</h2>
<p>A year later, Ernie and Eric Brice formed Kresta Blinds, introducing the exciting concept of <a href="https://www.abcblinds.com.au/vertical-blinds">vertical blinds</a> to Australia. With a commitment to using the best materials and componentry and providing the latest products, it didn’t take long for Australians to get on board. Business boomed and Kresta soon became one of the largest blind retailers in the country, cementing its place as an iconic Australian household name.</p>

<h2>Vista Blinds was born</h2>
<p>Two decades on, after going public on the stock exchange and selling their Kresta shares, the entrepreneurial Brice brothers started up another retail blinds company. This new business venture was called Vista Blinds, which went on to operate successfully in four Australian states over the next twelve years.</p>
<p>In 1999, Ernie and Eric re-acquired Kresta Blinds, and Vista became part of the Kresta Group. Three years later, the duo felt ready to retire and sold their Kresta shares. But retirement, it seemed, wasn’t quite ready for them yet...</p>

<h2>A new era of ABC Blinds</h2>
<p>In 2002, Ernie and Eric seized an opportunity to build yet another company, this time calling it <a href="https://www.abcblinds.com.au/">ABC Blinds WA</a>. Never faltering on their commitment to quality and service, it took just one year for ABC Blinds WA to establish itself as a leading Australian blinds retailer, with a unique focus on sourcing and offering the most innovative, world-class products to the Australian public and overseas market.</p>
<p>Back then, Ernie and Eric <a href="https://www.abcblinds.com.au/about-abc-blinds">employed over 80 staff</a> in ABC Blinds WA’s retail, wholesale and manufacturing operation, and they showed no signs of slowing down!</p>

<p>Here at <a href="https://www.abcblinds.com.au/">ABC Blinds &amp; Awnings</a>, the health and safety of our customers, staff and contractors is always a priority, especially now.</p>
<p>During this time, we would like to keep you informed about our approach to the ongoing situation. We&rsquo;re continuing to monitor the situation and are actively following the guidelines provided to us from the <a href="https://www.pm.gov.au/media/update-coronavirus-measures" target="_blank" aria-invalid="true">Australian Government</a> and <a href="https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019" target="_blank">World Health Organisation (WHO)</a>.</p>
<p>From our showrooms to our manufacturing facilities, we have carried out extensive safety training, and are frequently communicating with one another to ensure everyone&rsquo;s health and safety.</p>
<p>Our metro and regional <a href="/showrooms-perth">showrooms</a> are all still operating at normal trading hours with increased precautionary measures, which include:</p>

<li>Cleaning work surfaces frequently with disinfectant.</li>
<li>Ensuring hand sanitiser is readily available for frequent application.</li>
<li>Staff and contractors practicing social distancing.</li>
<li>Requesting that any unwell team members or customers stay at home.</li>

<p>Measure and quotes, plus installation services are still going ahead, however, our sales representatives and fitters are only visiting homes if they are in good health. While in your homes, our employees will continue to follow good hygiene practises and social distancing guidelines, plus avoid any unnecessary contact with surfaces within your home.</p>

<p>There’s a lot to celebrate this week at <a href="https://www.abcblinds.com.au">ABC Blinds</a> with one of our original founders, Ernie Brice, turning 93!</p>

<p>Ernie and his brothers pioneered the blinds industry back in 1972 when they successfully started two locally-owned businesses: Kresta Blinds and Vista Blinds. They then went on to run one of WA’s largest and most successful blinds companies: ABC Blinds!</p>

<p>Even well into his nineties, Ernie is still very much involved in the day-to-day running of this family-owned and operated business. He now works part time, supporting his sons and co-managing directors, Mark and Mel Brice, to continue his legacy as a trusted and knowledgeable authority on blinds in Australia.</p>

<p>“We’re really proud of how far ABC Blinds has come as a business and continues to strengthen as one of Perth’s largest and most popular blinds companies”, says Mark Brice.</p>

<p>Ernie has been an integral part of ABC’s success over the last 45+ years, growing it from a small Perth business to WA’s largest supplier of made-to-measure blinds that employs over 160 West Australians. So, from all of us here at ABC Blinds we’d like to wish Ernie Brice a very happy 93rd birthday.</p>
